Explore and Validate an idea

Study about 900 apps that already earn, check your own idea against them, and start building from the result. Neither is a forecast.

Updated Oct 12, 2026

Explore's catalog of top-earning apps with its search, the Validate an idea form with a habit tracker idea, and its result: Niche with proof, one close app, and Build this app
Search apps that already earn, check your own idea, then build it from the result.

Steps

  1. Open Find an app idea under the dashboard composer, or Explore in the site menu.
  2. Search the catalog. Apps with every word come first; when none has them all, apps with any of them. Common words in Vietnamese and other languages are read as English ones.
  3. In Validate an idea, describe yours in any language. You get close apps, a verdict, risks and a 3–5 feature first version.
  4. Click Build this app, or Build an app like this on an app's page. The wizard opens with a brief, and shows the credit estimate before building.

Verdicts

VerdictMeans
Crowded marketMany close apps earn.
A leader owns thisOne big app earns most of the money.
Niche with proofThree or more close apps earn, none owning it, in a category with few apps.
Too few to tellOne or two close apps earn, or a few in a busy category the catalog may only partly cover.
No close match in our catalogUnknown, not bad: the catalog lists only apps that earn.
Local business appIt earns through the shop, so store revenue is no comparison.

Good to know

  • Estimates are Sensor Tower's public figures for one month, worldwide across the App Store and Google Play, with each app's top markets; rough, collected about a month later. Mostly AI apps; no games.
  • A check knows only the catalog: not local competitors, local rules or the market's size. For a country you name, it says what to check there.
  • Signed out, a search shows 10 apps and browsing is limited. Signed in, checks are saved under Your checks, visible only to you, and reopen with today's verdict.
  • Messengers and other general platforms are not counted as close apps; they are named as free apps doing part of it.
  • A brief never names the app it came from. Use your own name, icon and words: Apple rejects copycats (Guideline 4.1) and Google Play removes impersonators.
